Fern Creek Optimist Club's Recreational Soccer program provides a fun, welcoming environment where players of all experience levels can learn the game, develop new skills, build confidence, and make lasting friendships. Whether your child is stepping onto the field for the first time or returning for another season, our recreational league emphasizes player development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and having fun in a positive and supportive atmosphere. Age group change effectice Fall 2026: ⚽ U6: August 1, 2020 – July 31, 2022 ⚽ U8: August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2020 ⚽ U10: August 1, 2016 – July 31, 2018 ⚽ U12: August 1, 2014 – July 31, 2016 ⚽ U14: August 1, 2012 – July 31, 2014 ⚽ U19: August 1, 2007 – July 31, 2012 Program Information • Open to boys and girls of all skill levels. • Every registered player is placed on a team. • All practices and home games are held at the Fern Creek Optimist Sports Complex (8925 Smith Lane, Louisville, KY 40291). • U6 players participate on Saturdays only and do not have weekday practices. • U8–U19 teams typically practice two evenings per week, with practice nights selected by each team's volunteer coach based on field availability. • Games are primarily played on Saturdays, with occasional Sunday games scheduled by the league when necessary. • U6 and most U8 games are played at Fern Creek Optimist. • U10–U19 teams participate in the JCYSL league, playing a combination of home games at Fern Creek and away games throughout Louisville and the surrounding communities. Coaches & Volunteers Needed Our recreational soccer program relies on dedicated volunteer coaches and assistant coaches to make each season a success. No prior coaching experience is required—we provide resources and support to help you get started. If you're interested in coaching or assisting, please indicate your interest during registration.
